Inside a 20 m² Micro Apartment in Gdańsk That Functions Like a Boutique Hotel

This 20 m² micro-apartment in the Żurawie development in Gdańsk was designed by Aleksandra Czajka-Witkowska of Czajka Wnętrza and completed in 2025. Planned for short-term rental, the layout follows a hotel model: clear zoning, concealed functions, and no unnecessary furniture. The sofa was removed to prioritize a full bed, and the kitchen was compressed into the entrance corridor to keep the main room open and easy to use.

The hallway contains deep, symmetrical built-in cabinetry that integrates the kitchenette, washing machine, and dishwasher. The cabinetry matches the wall color to reduce visual weight, while central fronts in a soft champagne finish define the axis. Durable materials, including vinyl wallpaper with a textile texture and tile flooring, were selected for intensive use.

The main space relies on a restrained beige base across floors, walls, and textiles. A burgundy ceiling frame with decorative molding introduces contrast and defines the room’s proportions. A low partition behind the custom bed integrates shelving, lighting, and electrical fittings. Mirrored wardrobe fronts reflect natural light from the balcony doors, improving brightness without adding extra elements.

The bathroom is divided into two zones. The washbasin area uses patterned terrazzo surfaces and burgundy walls, while the shower area shifts to a lighter, neutral finish behind glass. Fittings from the Silia series by Deante Design Studio in titanium complete the space with simple, curved forms.
