Forget Traditional Towel Rings: A Piece Of Brass Wire Creates Bathroom Storage

Store-bought towel rings, bars, and hooks solve the same problem in almost every bathroom. Brittney Smart took a different approach using a short piece of brass wire, a wall hook, and a few hand tools. What started as a straight length of wire became a geometric towel holder that adds storage while introducing a custom brass accent beside the sink.

Brass Wire Replaced a Store-Bought Towel Holder

Heavy-gauge brass wire, two pairs of pliers, a towel, and a small brass screw hook supplied everything needed for the project. No brackets, mounting plates, or decorative hardware entered the design.

Brass wire provides enough rigidity to support a folded hand towel while remaining flexible enough to bend into shape with hand tools.

Fabric Protected the Brass During Bending

Direct contact between plier teeth and brass can leave visible marks across the metal surface. Wrapping the wire with a towel created a protective barrier before shaping began.

Protection becomes more important as bends become tighter because pressure concentrates in smaller sections of the wire.

First Bend Created the Hanging Hook

One end of the brass wire was bent into a compact hook that would later connect to the wall-mounted screw hook.

Creating this detail first establishes the attachment point and determines how the finished holder will hang against the wall.

Wire Took Shape Through Successive Bends

Additional bends transformed the straight brass rod into a triangular profile large enough to support a folded towel.

Angled sides provide structure without adding bulk, allowing the holder to remain visually light against the wall surface.

Small Wall Hook Supports the Holder

Drywall anchor and brass screw hook create the only mounting point needed for the holder. Once installed, the triangular brass frame hangs directly from the hook.

Absence of large mounting hardware helps the finished piece resemble a custom decorative accent rather than a standard bathroom accessory.

Brass Holder Hangs Without Additional Hardware

Completed wire frame slips directly onto the wall hook and can be removed at any time.

Open design eliminates moving parts while allowing the holder to sit flat against the wall.

Folded Towel Completes the Design

Lower section of the brass frame supports a folded hand towel without requiring clips, bars, or rings.

Weight of the fabric helps keep the towel in place while maintaining easy access beside the sink.

Finished Holder Replaces a Traditional Towel Ring

Triangular brass frame occupies very little wall space compared to conventional towel rings while serving the same purpose.

Single piece of bent brass wire, one wall hook, and a folded hand towel create a storage solution that functions as both a bathroom accessory and a decorative accent.
